Governor of the Colombian department of Boyaca, Jorge Eduardo Londono, has said in Havana that a group of 11 Cuban teachers in his territory are doing an excellent job.
Londono and his group were met at the offices of the Cuban Parliament by Ramon Pez Ferro, president of the International Relations Commission. He pointed out the progress made by his people after the implementation of the Cuban teaching method "Yes, I can".
The meeting dealt with different topics of bilateral interest including the cooperation programs between Cuba and Colombia and in particular those with the department of Boyaca.
In a brief statement to the media, the Governor referred to the assistance Colombia receives from Cuba in the area of education and sports.
Londono added that the relationship has served to improve society and create consciousness, "Above all to reach out to so many needy people thirsty of knowledge, of new disciplines and the desire to advance," he emphasized.
The high ranking Colombian official noted that next year they expect to declare Boyaca as a territory free of illiteracy.
On Monday, the Colombian visitor and his group toured Havana's Latin American School of Medicine, where 18 students from Boyaca are now studying to become doctors.
