Speaking at the III Convention on the Innovations and Trends of the Communication and Information Technologies (CIT), González highlighted in Havana that only as developers and not as mere consumers of the products imported from the rich countries the gap can be shortened.
The Cuban top official stated that the disparity in the information technology among the nations is proportional to the economic successes, therefore "now we have to talk about inforich and infopoor States."
The most advanced economies invest the fifth portion of their GDP in developing these technologies, particularly software and hardware, with the definite purpose of producing profits and establish in other nations their consumer and segregationist culture, explained González.
The Major of the Revolution, Ramiro Valdés, Minister of Informatics and Communications attended the opening of this meeting that is underway in the capital of Cuba and is organized among other institutions by the Empresa de Tecnologías de la Información y Servicios Telemáticos (CITMATEL).
This forum gathers the 11th International Meeting of Networks and Telecommunications, the 5th Global Vision and the 6th Event of Hardware and its main goal is to train and update Cuban specialists on new techniques prevailing in the world.
