New flights will operate between Cuba and the Dominican Republic as of July.
Cubana de Aviación executives pointed out that flights between Havana and Santo Domingo will operate on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
The Cuban-Dominican route is currently covered by Russian-made IL-62 planes, but modern TU-204-300 aircraft will be incorporated in September.
In addition, AeroCaribbean informed that it will continue to fly with ATR-72 airplanes between Santo Domingo and Santiago de Cuba on Monday and Friday afternoons. That route is highly demanded because the upcoming Caribbean Festival, held every year in Santiago, will be dedicated to the Dominican Republic.
Those actions are part of efforts to take better advantage of the two countries' tourist attractions, in addition to boosting multidestination options.
