Cuba is boosting congress tourism, since the organization of fairs, conferences and conventions has a major economic impact.
The holding of meetings, experts said, has allowed Cuban professionals, technicians, scientists and artists to exchange experiences with their counterparts from other countries.
Congress tourism is a major hard-currency earner compared to conventional tourist programs.
According to statistics from Cuba's Bureau of Conventions, the Caribbean Island ranks fifth in the continent regarding the number of events held every year, only preceded by the United States, Canada, Brazil and Mexico.
Generally, 60 percent of more than 400 international events held in Cuba every year take place in Havana, as the capital has the best infrastructure for congress and incentive tourism.
The facilities include communication systems, international airports and connections with the rest of the country, among others.
