Cuba builds 110,000 homes this year

The session, presided over by Cuban Vice President Carlos Lage and National Peoples Power Assembly President Ricardo Alarcon, heard a detailed report on the issue from Permanent Productive Activity Committee Chairman Leonardo Martinez.
Martinez stated that as of November, 102,353 houses had been constructed and the plan is to conclude the year with 110,000.
Of the total, 31 percent were begun or were in the first phase of construction this year, and the important number of 101,000 had the participation of the population in construction labor.
The program s expense in convertible currency until November was $292 million for construction materials, fuel and transportation.
The committee recognized the revolutionary government s leadership in the economic and financial effort carried out to face the problem of housing, which doubled the historic figures of the 90s.
