Cuba finishes fourth at Pan-Am Canoe Championship

Cuban canoeists finished fourth at the Pan-American Canoe Championship held in Cuemanco, Mexico.
By countries, Canada finished first, winning 28 gold, 16 silver and 13 bronze medals and qualifying for the Pan-American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2007.
Mexico placed second and won seven gold, ten silver and eight bronze medals, followed by Brazil (7-5-3) and Cuba (7-1-4).
The Cubans qualified for 11 competitions at the continental games in Brazil next year.
The Caribbean Island will compete in the 1,000- and 500-meter races in the C-1 and C-2 canoe, as well as in men's kayak, K-2 (1,000 and 500 meters) and K-4 (1,000 and 500 meters).
Meanwhile, the women will compete in K-1, K-2 and K-4 (500 meters).
The list of Cuban winners includes Karel Aguilar-Serguei Torres, in the C-2 modality (1,000 and 500 meters), Carlos Montalvo-Reinier Torres (K-2/1,000 meters), Maikel Zulueta-Jorge García-Reinier Torres-Carlos Montalvo (K-4/1,000 meters) and Yulitza Meneses-Lianet Alvarez (K-2/500 meters).
