The harvest of grapefruit from the Cuban region of Ciego de Ávila has begun. The production is largely controlled by the state. Besides that, there is a part of production joined in grower cooperatives. Together they expect a production of 10.000 MT, until January 2007. This will bring the joint production volume of the area on a total of 30.000 MT of citrus, combining oranges, lemons and mandarins, which have been produced during previous months.
