Primary care and aging are on the table of the 15th International Seminar on Assisting Senior Citizens, starting in this capital on Monday.
The event, taking place at the Habana Libre Hotel, brings together 100 experts on geriatrics, gerontology and family medicine, among other branches related to the care of these people.
The agenda also includes issues like geriatric evaluation, community rehabilitation, dementias, chronic diseases in the community, nutrition, physical activity and health.
The aging population is a world phenomenon and an achievement of humanity, but societies must be ready to face it to achieve satisfactory longevity.
Cuba has 1.8 million people over 60, or 15.9 percent of population, and life expectancy is almost 80 years.
