Cuba hosts Biotechnology Congress

The meeting brings together prestigious personalities from over 50 countries including Germany, France, England, Mexico, Venezuela, Brazil and Dominican Republic.
The participants will discuss the application of biotechnology in medicine and the advances made in the development of therapeutic vaccines against several illnesses, among them cancer.
The event also includes a workshop on genetic therapies against malignant tumours.
Member of the organizing committee, Dr. Jose Cremata, said debates will center on the use of biotechnology to fight infectious illnesses and on the progress of bioinformatics.
During the event, the Cuban delegates will present the vaccine, Heberpenta, which was introduced to the National Program of Immunization for Children on September 1st.
