Cuba hosts International Piano Contest

The sixth Ignacio Cervantes International Piano Concourse and Festival will open at the Havana Amadeo Roldan Theater on March 8, with participation of 21 piano players from 10 countries.
Organizing committee chairman, pianist Victor Rodriguez, told press at the Cuban Union of Writers and Artists (UNEAC) that this is an event of great significance and prestige.
The pianist, an instructor of piano, asserted that the contest festival, which will conclude on March 11, will be attended by such greats as Alexander Braginsky, Yukio Miyasaky, Mauricio Moretti and Patricio Malcom.
The jury will be presided over by Frank Fernandez, with Braginsky, Miyasaky, Moretti, Jorge Luis Prats, Victor Rodríguez, and Teresita Junco, to select the winners.
The awards will be prizes of $5,000, $3,000, $1,500 and finalists will receive $500, in addition to supporting diplomas for all.
