Cuba marks Latin American Medicine Day

The Aracelio Rodriguez Policlinic in that mountainous region was chosen to host that celebration, in recognition for the over 20 high-quality services it offers to rural and urban residents.
The renewed health center, equipped with a therapeutic ward, x-rays, ultrasound, and endoscopy, among other departments, provides attention to over 25,000 people, who used to move to the province downtown to receive health care.
This week, Cienfuegos hosted the Franco-Cuban Congress on Psychiatry and Mental Health, a gynecosbtetric session, and a debate on the new program for the training of doctors, through which Latin American students stay in this province's Cuban homes.
The homage for Dr. Carlos J. Finlay today has been preceded by an intense national campaign against the Aedes aegypti mosquito, the agent transmitting the yellow fever and other diseases, as the Cuban scientist discovered.
