This integral project was born in June, 1987, in order to eliminate differences between the countryside and the cities. It has so far reached over 700 thousand Cubans living in 10 of the 14 provinces of the island -specifically in the Sierra Maestra, Sagua-Nipe-Baracoa, Bamburanao, Guamuhaya and Sierra de los Organos territories.
Sancti Spiritus mountains are therefore provided with proper educational institutions -including a university in Trinidad's Topes de Collantes- as well as sanitary facilities like hospitals and family doctor's clinics scattered in the different settlements.
Agricultural productions have also been increased during the last years in all the local Plan Turquino territories which comprises areas from the municipalities of Sancti Spiritus, Trinidad, Fomento and Yaguajay.
