Cuba: Parliament called to session

Cuban People's Power National Assembly President Ricardo Alarcon convened in this capital on Friday the 8th Ordinary Period of Sessions of the Sixth Legislature of that government entity.
The meeting will take place at Havana's Conference Center on December 22 with the attendance of over 600 deputies from the country's several sectors.
The Peoples Power National Assembly is the State's supreme body and represents and exercises the people's sovereign will through deputies elected in the country's 169 municipalities, whose mandate lasts five years.
According to the Constitution, the Assembly is the only Cuban body with constituent and legislative authority.
