The city of Bayamo, in the eastern province of Granma, will host the National Meeting of Concert Bands Directors under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and the provincial Centre of Music.
According to the organizers of the event, international delegates and over 80 representatives of the host countrys municipalities will b participating. Likewise prestigious musicians Leo Brower, Rodolfo Posada and Esteban Quesada are expected to join the gathering.
Some of the topics to be debated in the meeting are; repertoire policy, digital programs in digital compositions, teaching methods in schools of music and recent graduates hired by concert bands. The event s scheduled visits include visits to the related institutions in Bayamo and Manzanillo. These cities have developed interesting social work educational program for convicted prisoners, who join to play in groups. In the concert program features the Provincial Concert Band, Childrens Band of Bayamo and Municipal Band of Niquero or Niquero's All Star Band.
All of them have recruited young graduates of the local school of music. The National Meeting of concert bands directors is expected to defy its predecessor in quantity and in quality. Granma pioneers the concert band movement on the island with 13 municipal groups in all.
