Cubas International Sports School Turns Six

Cubas International School of Physical Education and Sports (EIEFD in Spanish), celebrated its six birthday on Friday with the pride of having transformed dreams into realities.
The institution, located outside Havana in San Jose de las Lajas, has a current enrollment of 1,216 students from 75 countries, and has graduated 810 youths from 54 nations. The colossal school aspires to become a world model for such institutions. .
The opening of what has been called the "House of Olympic Champions," as well as a small sampling of the most charming customs and traditions of the peoples represented at EIEFD, were part of the celebration headed up by Roberto Leon Richard, the first vice-president of the National Institute of Sports and Recreation (INDER in Spanish).
The aspiration to transform the gigantic school into world model for similar institutions was proclaimed by Arnaldo Rivero Fuxá, the acting head of the school, who also commented on EIEFDs role of uniting countries of the Third World by supporting the development of sports in those countries.
