Beyond the pristine beaches, sun and other natural beauty, Cuban legislators believe the islands culture and identity should become a main attraction for tourists to visit Cuba.
Such a promotion strategy was discussed on Wednesday by the Cuban Parliaments Education, Culture, Science and Technology, and Environment Committee meeting in Havana.
The representatives analyzed the current state of the inter-institutional ties between culture and tourism and the problems impeding a greater presence of the best Cuban art in hotels, night clubs and other centers.
Inserting the tourist into the cultural life of the nation instead of only offering exclusive packages was a point of consensus among the committee members.
The other nine permanent legislative committees are also meeting as a prelude to the plenary session.
