The International Day of Families will be dedicated this year in Cuba to fecundity, a issue that currently concern experts due to the decrease of birthrate in the island.
Herminia Rodriguez, from the Cuban Women Federation, told Prensa Latina that Juan Carlos Alfonso, president of the national group that analyzes population aging in the country, is expected to speak about the subject on May 15.
Alfonso recently stated that 16 percent of almost over 11 million Cubans are over 60 years old, an indicator that will increase if the country takes into account the birthrate of less than two children per woman.
The International Day of Families has been presided in Cuba by reflections in communities on the creation of values in youngsters, with the participation of nearly 65,000 people of the country.
