Cuban ballet dancers Viengsay Valdes and Romel Frometa will perform at an international gala on World Dance Day, April 29, in Portugal, Alicia Alonso s company sources announced Monday.
The program includes the pas de deux "Diana and Acteon," in a version by Alonso based on the original by Agripina Vaganova, and the pas de deux of "Carmen," choreographed by Alberto Alonso, inspired by the homonymous novel of Prosper Merimee, music by Bizet-Schedrin.
The show will take place at Camoes Theater, and will also be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the National Dance Company.
Valdes and Frometa will go on stage together with Spaniard Tamara Rojo, Rumanian Alina Cojucaru and Danish Johan Kobborg, first figures of the London Royal Ballet.
