Cuban medical brigade saluted in Guatemala

The solidarity and voluntary assistance provided by Cuban health workers in Guatemala has earned the brigade the 2006 Personality of the Year recognition from the editors, journalists and photographers of Siglo Veintinuno newspaper.
The daily ran a front page photo of Cuban doctor Yoandra Muro, in charge of the medical brigade, with the headline: "We came to Guatemala to share not compete," along with a subtitle declaring the group Personality of the Year.
Since Cuba sent the first 19 doctors to the Central American nation in November 1998 after Hurricane Mitch devastated the region, a total of 229,145 lives have been saved by the islands health.
