Some 800 delegates from 20 countries are attending the 12th Nursing Congress, from Tuesday through Friday in Havana, focused on the social and human character of nursing.
Event themes include humanization of health, leading-edge technology, stress, helping relationships, nursing care and attention to disabled, and other professional topics.
Besides the message on nursing s caring character, the delegates will discuss teaching, decision-making for quality of life, and assessments of caretakers to avoid burnout.
The "To humanize is the art of care-taking," congress also hosts the "Cecily Saunders in Memoriam" symposium, the first in Cuba on palliative care, in homage to the English nurse who founded the first hospice 40 years ago.
