The Cuban soccer team is getting ready to compete in the second stage of the Digicel Cup, after qualifying first in Group E during the first stage.
That way, Cuba will join Bahamas, Guadeloupe and Martinique in Group I and will play in October and November.
Cuban sports officials pointed out that there is a request to hold some of the games at Havana's Pedro Marrero Stadium, but it has to be approved by the Caribbean Soccer Union.
Group G will be made up of Guyana and Surinam, winners of Group A, in addition to Barbados and Antigua and Barbuda, which qualified in Group B.
Eight teams will compete in the final stage, to be held in Trinidad and Tobago in early 2007. The winner will be the Caribbean champion. The first three places will qualify for the 2007 Gold Cup.
