Over 1,400 delegates throughout the country started Sunday in this capital works of the 19th Congress of the Central Workers Union of Cuba (CTC).

The event, which will take place for four days, is expected to debate an extensive agenda of important issues for the workers' movement and the nation's economic and social development process.

After the arrival of delegations to Havana, union representatives will hold the first meeting with authorities from different ministries and state organizations for the initial analysis of activities in this sector.

These contacts will be carried out by union leaders with officials from agriculture, trade, communication, education, culture, light and food industries, chemistry, transport, science, as well as public health, tourism, sugar industry, merchant marine, among others.

Nine commissions will start working Monday, to preferably pay attention to the union movement's labor in fundamental areas.

During the Congress' last day, delegates will elect the new CTC National Secretariat, who will lead the trade union movement over the next years.
