The French company Vergnet has planned the assembly of more eolian parks in Cuba, similar to those of the Canarreos, Isle of Youth, located to the southeast of this capital, said an expert of this company.
The six aero-generators installed there generate 1,65 megawatts, approximately 10% of the energy consumption in that area of the country, explained to Prensa Latina, Pierre Pesnel, who manages exports for the company.
The company founded in 1989 by Marc Vergnet, produces wind turbines for areas of difficult access and with climatic problems that hinder their assembly, he asserted.
Pesnel said that the technique was developed in the Guadalupe island and New Caledonia, regions with similar conditions to Cuba and are hit by hurricanes.
Aero-generators are equipped with a folding tower that can be disassembled or tied to the ground in the event of hurricanes, explained in the V International Conference of Renewable Energy, Energy Saving, and Energy Education.
The Isle of Youth receives the benefits of the energy of wind mills and diesel groups integrated in its global energy network, what generates a low cost in production of electricity.
The experimental eolian park Los Canarreos which has a favorable impact in the energy revolution developed in Cuba, was inaugurated last February 24 and it has saved 15 tons of conventional fuel.
