A jury summoned by the National Council of Plastic Arts and presided over by José Gómez Fresquet (Frémez), last years winner of this important credit, valued the singular aesthetic and social impact of Pedro Pablo's creation.
The artistic projection of Oliva's work has gone a long way from his relevant pedagogical influence excelled in several generations of artists and a commendable task developed in relation to promoting the Workshop Home P.P. Oliva, Cubaneo Award and sponsorship of the Art Museum of Pinar del Río; his birth town since January 15, 1949 until now.
The said annual Prize was set up in 1994 and is granted to Cuban artists living in the country, whose work is regarded as a contribution for the development of Cuban history and identity as well as of national and international relevance.
Graduate of the National Art School of Havana, Pedro Pablo has exhibited successfully his pieces in Canada, France, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Switzerland, Mexico, Germany and United States and of course in Cubas National Museum of fine Arts.
