Vaccination campaign
Health authorities in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba will carry out a vaccination campaign against mumps, benefiting people aged 12-24.

Experts said that on this occasion, the one-time vaccine, which is usually administered to children aged 1-6, will immunize people against mumps, rubella and measles.

The vaccine will be administered in traditional health areas and schools, the experts added.

Mumps is an infectious viral disease that is transmitted through saliva or direct contact with contaminated objects. It was eradicated in Cuba in 1995 as a result of regular vaccination campaigns.

Mass vaccination in Cuba has also contributed to eradicating live-threatening diseases such as neonatal tetanus and tubercular meningitis in children under one year of age, among other diseases.
