Cuban women play an important role in the Cuban Trade Union Movement (CTC), representing 54 percent of its national leaders.

Pedro Ross Leal, leader of the organization, said a few days before the beginning of the XIX Congress of the CTC that 58 percent of grassroots leaders are women.

He pointed that 90 of the 169 municipal CTC committees in the country are led by women.

Almost half of the professional leaders in the Trade Union Movement are women and many lead CTC committees in the provinces, reported Ross Leal.

The Cuban State provides for women professional training, job facilities and improvement of working conditions and quality of life.

Representatives of the 19 syndicates in the island will analyze starting Monday the main problems of the Cuban workers and the need to achieve efficiency to have better living conditions.
