In the context of celebrations for the 487th Anniversary of Havana City, representatives of city councils from around the world will hold the 14th Cooperation and Solidarity Encounter, next November 13-15 in the Cuban capital.
Foreign Relations Director at Havana City Council Ramon Perdomo announced that a record number of participants from 34 countries is expected to attend the gathering. He said some nations to be represented include China, Venezuela, Bolivia, Brazil, Mexico, Italy, Angola, Iran, Honduras, Belarus and Turkey, among others.
For the first time, Havana officials will hold separate meetings with mayors of cities located in the Caribbean, Spain (usually with the largest representation) and China, a country whose exchange with Cuba sparks promising results in different social and economic sectors, said Perdomo.
Meetings will take place November 13th , while on the 14th visiting delegations will tour Havana municipalities to have a first hand look at ongoing efforts by the Cuban Revolution aimed at improving the living standards of the population, despite the over-40-year US economic, commercial and financial blockade of the island.
The event will open a plenary session on November 15th at Havanas Convention Centre, with addresses by Cuban and foreign personalities, said the Havana official.
