Havana was chosen in voting as a finalist to be among the New 7 Wonders Cities of the World, announced the Ministry of Tourism, leaving over 1200 cities in over 220 countries who were also nominated. The event is organized by the Swiss foundation New7Wonders and began in 2012.
Recently, the National Bureau of Statistics and Information (ONEI) published data showing an increase of 6.7% in the number of international visitors to the island during the month of August compared to the same period last year. These figures enliven the hope of achieving the goal of three million tourists during 2014.
The XXIV International Ballet Festival of Havana will give the opportunity to witness, first in Cuba, the performances of the Hispanic Ballet of New York. Companies from the United States, France, Switzerland, Argentina and the island itself will also participate.
