Member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Saleh Raafat is visiting Cuba on Saturday as special envoy of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

Raafat, who is also General Secretary of the Palestine Democratic Union Party carried a message from Abbas to President Fidel Castro and First Vice President Raul Castro, Granma daily reports.

Representing the president of the Palestinian National Authority and the President of PLO Executive Committee, Raafat has already held talks with Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque to whom he gave the document addressed to the Cuban dignitary.

The version itself said that he met member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party Fernando Remirez de Estenoz.

He also held a fruitful exchange of opinions on bilateral relations, the struggle of the Palestinian people for their right to have their own State and mainly other regional and international issues of mutual interest, noted Granma daily.

The communiqué further states the visit "has allowed reiterating invariable solidarity and support of the Cuban Revolution to the inalienable rights of the Palestinian and Arabs peoples."

Cuba has also confirmed its commitment to continue working, leading the Movement of Nonaligned Nations (NOAL), in favor of the Palestinian people's cause.
