Cuba-Honduras Sharpen Economic Cooperation

A two-day meeting to follow up on the accords of the First Cuba-Honduras Joint Commission begins Thursday in Havana, according to Granma newspaper.

Foreign Investment and Economic Collaboration (MINVEC) Minister Marta Lomas heads the Cuban delegation; the Honduran delegation is led by Technical Cooperation Secretariat (SETCO) Minister Karen Zelaya.

During her visit to Havana, Zelaya will hold talks with Cuban Education and Foreign Ministry authorities and meet with officials of the Cuban Radio and Television Institute (ICRT).

Bilateral cooperation began with the signing of a cooperation agreement in February 2007. MINVEC and SETCO are the official channels for implementation of the cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting is expected to boost the advance and coordination of bilateral relations by way of cooperation programs in health, education, agriculture, tourism, science and technology, basic industry, labor and social security, culture, sports and foreign trade.
