The Cuban National Council on Performing Arts (CNAE) is inviting artists from around the world to take part in the 13th International Theatre Festival, dedicated to the 50 years of Cuban Theatre under the Revolution, set for October 30th to November 8th, 2009, in Havana. Venues include Havana theatres, conference halls and open spaces.

This year’s theatre festival is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of revolutionary theatre, since the Cuban Revolution, which celebrated its 50th anniversary this past January 1st, turned Cuban theatre into an essential space for artistic, social and human research, bringing together such concepts as revolution and change, audience and people, art and society, theatre and nation.
The Festival will serve to access and celebrate the huge contributions by Cuban theatre masters, artists and promoters who showed the paths followed over the past 50 years and which have earned Cuban theatre, and culture in general great international prestige.
The event’s program, which includes adults and children’s theatre, as well as theatre dance, is aimed at promoting solidarity and integration among the world’s peoples.
