Cuba's medical care for the disabled was praised by the Executive Director for Latin America at the Inter-American Institute on Disability and Inclusive Development.
The expert declared that the disabled in Cuba enjoy a lot of respect and added that there is great commitment to them among the people and by the government.
He praised the work of all Cuban State organizations that design policies, strategies, programs and services to improve the quality of life of the disabled and facilitate their social integration.
According to the specialist, people with incapacities are often discriminated in many countries of Latin America. "They are denied their basic human rights," he noted.
He stressed that many countries and societies have not been able to
effectively advance in the struggle against the violations of these people's human rights.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there are nearly 650 million disabled people in the world today.
