Gibara's Film Festival, based in the coastal city of Gibara in the eastern province of Holguin, Cuba, running until Sunday, paid homage to Cuban filmmaker Tomas Gutierrez Alea (1928-1996), one of the stars of Cuban filmmaking.

The film "Titon, de la Habana a Guantanamera" (Titon, from Havana to Guantanamera), was presented during the second day of the festival, in this small coastal town in Holguin.

Gutierrez Alea (Titon), director of Cuban classic films like "Memorias del subdesarrollo" and "Fresa y chocolate", will also be honored during this week with the screening of some of his films and talks on his work.

The director of the Festival, Sergio Benvenuto, expressed that on this seventh annual presentation of the Gibara Film Festival there are 266 works from more than 20 countries and that it still maintains the joy and emotion of Cuban Filmmaker Humberto Solas (1941-2008), founder of the festival.
