Cuba is an Example of Agro-ecology, says expert

Altigri spoke at the opening day of the VIII Conference on Organic and Sustainable Agriculture underway in Havana with the attendance of experts from 22 nations and he highlighted the work of Cuban farmers to develop a sustainable agriculture based
on agro-ecological techniques.
He said people need to find new agricultural models that adapt to the current situations amidst global financial, energy and social crisis to face those scourges affecting millions throughout the world.
Altigri stated that the climate change is a challenge to the international scientific society in the face of lasting droughts, floods and hurricanes.
The event is presided over by the President of Cuba’s Small Farmers Association (ANAP) Orlando Lugo Fonte and Agriculture Vice-Minister Juan Pérez Lamas.
