The Ministry of Health issued the fact of infant mortality in the past the island in 2011. The figure was 4.9 per thousand live births, which is lower in seven provinces individually.
The island tops the list, for four years, from countries on the continent with less than five in their statistics as well as Canada, Granma daily publishes today.
In 2008 the figures reached 4.7, 4.8 escorted the following year. In 2010 recorded a 4.5.
317 five thousand more births compared with the previous year, the province with a lower rate was the eastern Las Tunas, with 3.5. The data support, with below average Artemis (3.9), Pinar del Rio and Holguin, (4.0), Havana,(4.3) and Ciego de Avila and Granma (4.4)
The newspaper also notes that 17 municipalities were able to zero in most of eastern territories.
Among the factors that contributed to these results are the will and decision of government policy, a high level of education of the population and a comprehensive vaccination program, with one hundred percent coverage ofchildren.
This is compounded by the health care system accessible and free for all, the scientific-technical qualification of workers and multiple maternal and child care program.
