For a week, the Charles Chaplin and Infanta movie theaters are screening Si vas a comer, espera por Virgilio (If you are going to eat, wait for Virgilio), a film version of the theater play by José Milián, as part of the Cuban Film Institute’s tribute to Virgilio Piñera.  After April 4th, Cuban movie fans will be able to enjoy it in the network of premier theaters all over the country.

Director Tomás Piard says that it was an assignment with which he wants to pay tribute to extraordinary Cuban intellectual Virgilio Piñera, whose legacy to Cuban culture is an original, courageous and absolutely personal work.

The play and the film deal with the clash between two generations in which friendship always comes out victorious. Its story takes place in the 1970’s when Piñera meets young playwright Pepe and then they share different opinions on culture and the island’s routine. It’s a co-production of the Cuban Film Institute –ICAIC-, the Cuban Radio and TV Institute and the National Performing Arts Council.
