Venezuelans wishing to travel to Cuba must obtain a tourist visa at the Cuban consulate in Caracas from this July 24, announced the Venezuelan Consortium of Aircraft Industries and Air Services (Conviasa by its Spanish acronym).
In a statement issued by Conviasa, it was reported that the official channel for travel to the Caribbean nation is apply for a visa at the embassy and not at the airport, a possibility that existed previously.
The measure was in force but has become rigorous due to the increase of Venezuelans who travel to Cuba for dollars. This phenomenon is due to the amounts received for travel to Cuba (by the ALBA countries) which are $ 700 to $ 1,000 if the stay is less than seven days and between 1,063 to $ 1,500 if the trip is over eight days.
The tourist visa is valid for a single entry in a journey of 30 days and can be extended by one month by the immigration authorities.
