A man attacked his partner, a young teacher, by slashing her face on Tuesday afternoon in Santiago de Cuba. The victim, Tatiana Alcolea, is a 24-year-old mother of two small children from a previous relationship.

A follower of independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada reported that the assailant was apparently waiting for her to return from work. "He cut her face so deeply that you could see her teeth," the follower said.

The incident occurred near La Barca de Oro in the José Martí district. According to a witness, Tatiana was coming from the ATM with a friend and a child when the attacker called out to her.

"She stopped to see what he wanted. He asked her something and she answered, but it all happened in a matter of seconds. Suddenly, he grabbed her by the arm, they struggled, and he slashed her face," the witness described in a testimony posted on Facebook.

The victim resides on Avenida 40, between streets 19 and 42, in the Nuevo Vista Alegre neighborhood. She was quickly assisted and taken to Saturnino Lora Provincial Hospital, where she was treated by a maxillofacial specialist.

The attacker, identified as Carlos Manuel Correa Leyva, sells food from a cart. It has been confirmed that he has committed similar acts against other partners.

According to an online user who spoke with Mayeta Labrada, a few years ago, on December 30, Correa Leyva attacked a woman named Yaima who lives in the San Pedrito neighborhood. The wounds were so deep that her bones were visible in her arm and other parts of her body. The attack took place in front of her two young children.

The assailant evaded capture for several days until he was found hiding in the washing machine at his home.

"He was imprisoned for that attack, but Yaima withdrew her accusation. He served only a few years, and after his release, he began selling food again. But now, I see he's gone too far," a neighbor emphasized.

It is currently unknown if Correa Leyva has been apprehended or remains at large.

"He lives on the ground floor of a house in the Plan Novoa area. His home is on the corner, in the same block where the famous Carnavalitos del Novoa are held," the journalist revealed on Facebook.
