A Cuban resident in Nebraska, known on TikTok as @asael8912, shared a video addressing criticisms made by a fellow Cuban living in Grand Island. In his video, Asael expressed disagreement with the young woman's complaints, which included early nightclub closures, the absence of beaches, and instances of theft in some cities as negative aspects of living in Nebraska.
For him, however, these points are not valid reasons to discourage Cubans who wish to move to Nebraska. He dedicated his message specifically to "Cubans who are thinking of moving here." "There is plenty of opportunity here for everyone," he commented in his extensive video, where he highlighted that there is work available for all, regardless of their immigration status.
Asael shared his own experience, recounting how he managed to find work despite initial difficulties, emphasizing that with effort, any Cuban can thrive in Nebraska. "Obviously, if you don't have documents, it's going to be a bit harder, just like it was for me at first, but I eventually found a job paying $16 an hour, and with that, I survived. Later, I found a job paying $23 an hour once I got my papers," he explained.
Additionally, he refuted the criticisms about the lack of recreational activities and encouraged his fellow Cubans, stating, "If there's a state to start over, to build and secure a future and good capital, it’s Nebraska."
The video has received numerous comments on TikTok: "I liked your response, besides, I believe we all don't have the same luck; each of us has our own light"; "Thank you for your honesty, well done!!!!"; "You are a good person"; "Here in Ohio, we also have both federal and state taxes," people commented.
