A Cuban woman has asked for help this Wednesday to find her missing dog named Loky, and has offered a reward for anyone who returns him. Marlene Ramírez announced on Facebook that her chihuahua disappeared at 12:00 PM, and in her desperation, she is offering a reward of 5,000 pesos to the person who brings him back.

Ramírez explained that a child is very distressed over the disappearance of the dog. "Help me," she pleaded.

In the comments section, Isvel Penton Bernal alleged that dogs have been going missing: “They have been stealing them for days, several have been taken from my neighborhood, and we know nothing. We need to report this.”

Reports of lost or stolen dogs are common in Cuba, with many people offering rewards in their desperation. Some of these stories do end on a positive note. Recently, a Cuban family that had reported the theft of their two chihuahuas got their pets back last Sunday. The dogs were found after someone purchased them and decided to return them to their rightful owners.

“We found them,” stated Mayrelis Garcés González in the Facebook group “SOS Callejeros Cuba,” while sharing images and videos showing the joy of a child upon being reunited with her pets.

In July, another Cuban woman described her ordeal after her chihuahua, named Milán, went missing. Yahima Tamayo Cuello shared photos of her dog on Facebook and appealed to anyone who found him to have the empathy to return the animal.
