Hoping to escape alcohol addiction, canadian man heads to Cuba for treatment
Seeking to escape a long-time addiction to alcohol that is tearing him and his family apart, a Canadian man will arrive in Cuba late Sunday (Sept. 30) to participate in a renowned treatment program. Arranged by Choice Medical Services, a leading medical tourism firm, his treatment will be at the Villa El Cocal/El Quinqué oceanside rehab center in eastern Cuba, where he will stay for the three-month long program designed to make him better again.

Sweet epidemic, how sweet it isnt
Cuba has 375 000 diagnosed diabetics under treatment, that is, 3,3 % of the population. But the current trend indicates the figure has doubled for the past 20 years. Diabetes accounts for the eighth cause of death in the country. This year, it amounts to 18,2 in every 100 000 inhabitants. The strategy of the Ministry of Public Health goes far beyond raising awareness about the ways of prevention.
