African and Caribbean Filmmakers to Gather in Cuba

U.S. actor Danny Glover will lead a large delegation of filmmakers from Africa and the Caribbean to participate in a meeting in Havana on audiovisual production in those regions and their cultural ties and identity. Organized by the Office of the Traveling Caribbean Film Festival, the event will meet next week at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba, with debates, panel discussions and presentations on the aesthetic and narrative components of the films in both territories. Two Cuban corporations sought to cancel a Supplemental Registration for the mark PINAR DEL RÍO for cigars, on four grounds: Section 2(a) deceptiveness; Section 2(e)(3) geographically deceptive misdescriptiveness; violation of the Pan American Convention because the mark is an indication of geographical origin or source but the goods do not come from that place; and fraud. Dozens begin flying to Cuba via Tampa Int'l Airport

Tropical Storm Nate Hits Mexican Coast

Cuba Works to Improve Rice Seeds

Jamaican Blake Wins 100 Meters in Berlin Meet

Cuban choir salutes Haiti from a distance
