Cuban Director Gutiérrez Alea honoured at Panamanian Film Festival
Recognised as one of the founders of Cuban cinema, Gutiérrez Alea wrote and directed over twenty films and documentaries since he began his career in the late 1950s, until his death in 1996.

Cuban Journalist Union awards Fidel Honorary Prize

Cuba's first founded town Baracoa celebrates 496th Anniversary
"Nuestra Señora de la Asuncion de Baracoa" was the name given in 1511 to the first town founded by the Spanish colonizers upon their arrival in Cuba. Exactly 496 years later, the inhabitants of today's Baracoa town, in the easternmost province of Guantanamo, celebrate one more anniversary.
