Cuba present at Lisbon Craftwork Fair
Cuba is participating with three stands from the Matanzas' Artisans Association at the week-long International Craftwork Fair in Lisbon, Portugal. The works by popular artisans from the Island have attracted hundreds of Lisbon residents who have praised this visual gift brought from across the Atlantic, said Cuba's Ambassador to Portugal, Jorge Castro Benitez.

The need to study indigenous cultures was stressed by Abel Prieto, Cuban Culture Minister
Cuban Culture Minister Abel Prieto underscored the need to boost research on the indigenous cultures of Caribbean nations to face the hegemony of world power centers. We need to analyze and think of each detail related to our own identity, as a step towards to the safeguarding of indigenous traditions, and even the survival of the fair society we are currently building.
Cuba cultivates rural education
Nearly 250 Latin America and Caribbean experts show in this city Wednesday some alternatives for pre-school education in rural zones, on occasion of the International Workshop titled "Educating under Palm Trees." Ibelice Turino, coordinator of the event, told Prensa Latina that the aim is to bring visitors closer to the work carried out in three communities of this province, west of Havana, with children up to six years old.

Treatment against varicose veins
Experts from Havana are working on a new treatment against varicose veins in the lower limbs. Doctors at the Freyre de Andrade Clinical-Surgical Hospital noted that the new method is painless, ambulatory, less invasive, and has no medical restrictions for its use, as the patient is not anesthetized.

Trinidad: "The Museum City of Cuba"
It is known as "The Museum City of Cuba", the Santisima Trinidad city, one of the first seven towns founded by the Spanish conquerors (1514) that today still preserves its construction as if time did not pass by. For that reason, it was declared together with Valle de los Ingenios, World Heritage of Humankind in 1988.
