Cuba increases food storage capacity
Raul Castro visits refrigerated silos and flour packing plant in Pinar del Rio. More than a hundred refrigerated silos for storing wheat, corn, soy, beans, rice and other grains are now in use as Cuba seeks to increase its food storage capacity. The goal is to have another similar amount in operation by the middle of the year.

Drummer Dafnis Prieto praised in Turkey

Pablo Milanés honored with UNEAC Award
Popular Cuban singer-songwriter Pablo Milanés received in Havana the Annual Award of the National Association of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC).
Pablito, author of the anthological piece "Yolanda" and founder of the Nueva Trova (New Song) Movement in Cuba, won the 2007 award along with musician Salvador Alarcón, of Bayamo.
Cuba protects AIDS patients
Cuba guarantees jobs, labor protection and free medical care to HIV AIDS patients, because the State prioritizes human development. Cuban experts attending the Second International Congress on Health and Work, being held in Havana until Friday, noted that the island nation provides high-quality medical care to those patients in order to improve their quality of life.

The prestigious Pablo Neruda Ibero-American Poetry Award was given this year to Cuban poet and essayist Fina Garcia Marruz, Chilean Minister of Culture Paulina Urrutia announced.
Cuba-China trade doubles in 2006
The trade volume between Cuba and China in 2006 saw a twofold increase from the previous year and reached 1.8 billion dollars, Cuban newspaper Opciones quoted Chinese Ambassador Zhao Rongxian as saying on Tuesday.
